Thomas B. Fordham Institute
Based on its consistently high academic performance and student demographic characteristics, Cleveland Early College High School was recently identified by the Thomas B. Fordham Institute as one of six public "needle in a haystack" high schools in the "Big 8" districts in Ohio (Akron, Canton, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus, Dayton, Toledo, Youngstown). "These 'needle in a haystack' schools prove that, despite troubling statistics about perennial low academic performance in many cities, excellent urban schools do exist in the Buckeye State. Such schools are worth celebrating and learning from." The goal of the program is to "make policy recommendations toward other urban schools to thrive in Ohio and successfully serve our [...] students". For more information on the Thomas B.
